Firin’ up the ol’ blog!

Hey all!  It has been almost a year since General Conference when I was blogging daily to give you my bias and slant on the goings on.  I am prepared to begin blogging weekly (more or less) on the topic:  Urban Ecclesiology, what it means to be the church in the city.  My reasons for this are below.

But first, the immediate issue is whether or not you want to receive these.  Many of you signed up out of interest in General Conference, so you will not hurt my feelings if you opt out by hitting unsubscribe.  I was assured that it is as easy to get out as it is to sign up, so if it is a hassle let me know.  Or, you may just see how they look before you opt out.  Whatever is fine with me.

My reasons for returning to the blog:

1)  I will turn 40 in May and I am hoping this will help me feel young & hip!

2) I have finished my Doctor of Ministry (graduation from Saint Paul in KC, MO in May) so I have 2 or 3 brain cells newly available for other kinds of thinking.

3)  My congregation, Trinity UMC, here in Kansas City, Kansas is facing a significant ministry puzzle and I want to involve lots of people in thinking about the future.  The depth and breadth of this puzzle will be a blog post all its own.

So, we are off and running.  More to come…  Mark

FYI, did you know the word “blog” is not in the dictionary of the spell checker for this blog site?  What’s up with that?
